Demonstrating the complete strength, resilience, and commitment that their frontline role requires, three HCIL care assistants in Newtownabbey were not going let a global pandemic stop them from delivering an iCare Wish to one of their much-loved clients.
Care assistants Demi, Amanda and Kelly led a fantastic fundraising campaign amongst their colleagues, family, friends, and local community to grant an iCare Wish for Joe - a bespoke, hand painted wall mural by a local artist and a new smart TV.
Speaking about the iCare Wish Demi said, “Joe is such a positive, inspiring man with a great personality and quick wit. He spends a lot of time in his bedroom, especially during this time and we knew that with a little help from iCare we could create a real sanctuary that he will love spending time in. Initially our plan was to be able to pay for a bespoke wall mural but thanks to iCare’s match funding, we were able to purchase a brand new smart tv to complete the bedroom.”
Joe said, “I’m so thankful to my carers for arranging this iCare wish and for their fundraising efforts. Thanks to their kindness I have been able to design and customise my own wall mural, which has been such a welcome project and distraction during this pandemic.”
Janine Smalls, iCare co-founder said, “When the Newtownabbey team, led by Demi came to us with their fundraising idea for Joe we were absolutely thrilled to support them. Spreading kindness is a fundamental part of iCare and we couldn’t be more proud of the team.”
