This Knitting group started three and a half years ago; it is a group of retired friends from the Milford/Armagh community who wanted to do something positive in their spare time, and the social aspect of this is keeping us together and enjoying our friendship and the craic.
We knit/crochet many things for charity, our first and second year we knitted cardigans, jumpers, hats, scarfs, and teddies for orphans in Belarus. Last year we did the same for St. Patrick’s Grammar School charity - “School Aid Romania” and the students distributed the knitted items themselves to the families and orphanages they attended during their stay.
This year we have knitted a consignment of 150 teddies that will accompany Michael Reade on his next mission to Nigeria. This is a charity iCare have long supported.
We are still providing knitwear to the Belarus and Romanian Charities on an annual basis. We’d like to sincerely thank iCare for allowing us to use the Gatelodge every week as our meeting point. The committee are always very accommodating and friendly.
