iCare at Christmas Campaign
Following a very successful launch in 2018 with over 300 presents donated, “iCare at Christmas” is back for its second year. Led by iCare, HCIL’s (Homecare Independent Living) dedicated employee charity – the campaign aims to provide Christmas gifts to disadvantaged or vulnerable children, teenagers and adults, many of who are experiencing homelessness in our local communities.
Speaking about the campaign, iCare committee member Joanne Murray said, “Homelessness across the island of Ireland is reaching epidemic levels. Recent research highlights that 32% of those who presented as homeless are families, meaning that there are at least 6,000 children in Northern Ireland who are living in unsuitable, unstable housing. Males aged between 26 and 59, presented at the highest risk, with a total of 4,350 cases. Being a single male who is homeless can mean that the likelihood of receiving support with housing is extremely low. Women and children seeking refuge through Women’s Aid and family shelters, are also considered homeless.”
She added, “Thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses last year and iCare match funding, our HCIL Support Services and Housing teams were able to deliver so many presents across the country to those who would have otherwise, went without. The presents were so well received and appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who supported iCare at Christmas and will do so again this year.
Kindness without limits this Christmas, if you can – please support.
