iCare Extend Warmth and Sparkle Creating Christmas Joy for All

3rd December 2018

Christmas is a time when we look forward to Christmas trees, presents, dreams of Santa and a delicious Christmas dinner. From Halloween until December 25th tales, talk and the excitement of Christmas abounds everywhere.

We all love Christmas, how could we not. It’s one of the only occasions where clichés are charming and add to the warmth of building memories, from the annual trip to the attic for Christmas decorations, to putting up the tree, organising Secret Santa and capturing that perfect Christmas eve moment when the entire family are proud to be wearing matching Christmas pajamas. Christmas films like ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ create that sense of magic were all hoping for, and Christmas Carols in town and in shopping centres bring that extra touch of sprinkle that adds a twinkle to our eyes. Strangers smile in the street, no expense is spared in the quest for that perfect Christmas gift for a loved one and grudges once held, seem so insignificant at this precious time of year. Friends and family reunite, and Christmas traditions continue to abound in houses all across the country. Every family has its traditions, and everyone puts forward the best effort to make their Christmas as beautiful and magical as possible. Heartbreakingly, this beauty and magic isn’t possible for everyone this Christmas.

There are people struggling to survive, literally, whose only thought at Christmas will be for a warm drink or a bed to sleep in. With a real desire on our hearts to assist in the homelessness crisis this year, we have initiated our iCare Christmas appeal, and we’re hoping you will feel that you are able to help us, help a homeless child. iCare Charity is delighted to launch their “iCare at Christmas” campaign, which aims to help over 300 homeless or disadvantaged children across Ireland to enjoy Christmas. We want as many children as possible to have a present to open this year.

Given that homelessness across Ireland has more than doubled in the last 4 years, we want to think about, and care for those who won’t have the excitement of a gift from under the Christmas tree this year. We are appealing to you to stand with us and say, “I Care to get involved and add warmth and joy for a child less fortunate this year”. In the words of Steve Maraboli, “A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

To get involved, call into our office on 028 3752 4111 or email our team on icare@hcil.com. We will give you the age and gender of a child that you can personalise a present for this year. Wrapped and labelled presents can be donated and delivered to any of our offices in Armagh, Belfast or Dublin at:
