Give An Hour
In October 2015 and October 2016, the team at Homecare Independent Living provided over 2,000 hours of care, free of charge, by donating the payment for that time to iCare.
That hour of care contributed to an overall sum of over £7,000 (almost €10,000) being raised in 2015 and an overall sum of £8000 being raised in 2016. The money raised is injected right back into the communities in which the team live and work.
This initiative was suggested by a member of staff at Homecare Independent Living. It was so popular among the team that they want to do it annually.
Over 700 members of staff at Homecare Independent Living gave an hour of their time to the company, free of charge, and donated their hourly rate to iCare.
The challenge was welcomed by everyone - carers, regional managers and the senior management team. Every penny of the money will be injected back into the communities in which the team live and work.
The generosity of the team is outstanding. The initiative demonstrates excellence, their commitment to helping others and signifies our dedication as a company to the people we care for.
The money raised in the 'Give An Hour' challenge will be used to grant iCare Wishes whereby members of the public can nominate someone in their local community to be granted a wish – a personal or practical gift which can often make a real difference to that person’s life.
- To enhance the dignity and improve the quality of life for people, families and communities.
