A Christmas Lunch!
22nd December 2017
Founding members of iCare charity Mairead Mackle & Gerald Mackle welcomed friends throughout the community to a Christmas Lunch in Milford’s Gatelodge on Tuesday 19th December. The festive themed afternoon tea prepared by iCare itself, welcomed Reverend Father McAnenly, Lord Mayor Gareth Wilson and Deputy Lord Mayor Sam Nicholson to join in the celebration of another successful year for the iCare charity. iCare Charity was set up in 2010 with a dream of helping people throughout the community by granting icare wishes, practical gifts of kindness for anyone who is in need
Across 2017, iCare has continued to grow as a recognised body within the community, designed to help others which is testament to the volunteers and committee members in place. Over 20 iCare wishes have been granted throughout this year, an initiative designed to grant a wish to someone that has been nominated by friends or family. iCare’s Annual Purple Run in Gosford Forest Park welcomed aspiring athletes and family’s to participate in a 3k, 5k or 10k challenge across the park in August. And last but certainly not least, iCare displayed their show stopping Santa’s Grotto with over 5000 people attending across the 3 week display of Christmas cheer brought to the Gatelodge. Over 250 local volunteers who were on hand to make the Christmas extravaganza possible who despite any weather condition, sang their best rendition of a Christmas carol or two along the way.
The festive lunch was an opportunity for Mairead, Gerald and all the iCare committee to thank the local community for their support and also initiate plans for 2018 as the charity starts its planing for another year of helping those in need. Mairead brought the celebration to a close with a quote from “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else”.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and sincerely thank you for your endless support.
