iCare Celebrate Huge Success of its First Ever Purple Run
19th September 2016
iCare hosted its first ever Purple Run in Gosford Forest Park on Saturday 13th August at 11am - a charity event with a 3k family walk, a 5k run and a competitive, time chipped 10k run. All proceeds raised from the event will be divided between the iCare Heart Defibrillator Campaign and the Craigavon Neo Natal Unit.
Attended by almost 500 people from across the country, the 3k and 5k fun walk event was open to children, adults, pets and families. The 10k run was a time chipped race and an excellent opportunity for competitive runners to enjoy a morning in the surrounds of Gosford Forest Park.
Speaking about the event, Mairead Mackle iCare Charity member said, “We are delighted to say that our first ever Purple Run was a huge success. The committee worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the event to put all the plans in place for what was an excellent day out for families and competitive runners alike. We encouraged everyone in the surrounding to come along and help us raise lots of money for both the iCare Heart Defibrillator Campaign and the Craigavon Neo Natal Unit – two very worthy causes and we were thrilled to have almost 500 people there on the day.”
Every participant received a purple iCare t-shirt and a goodie bag on completion.
Next year’s event promises to be even bigger and better!!
